Student Places at NETNEP 2008

Thank you to all of you who applied for one of these prestigious free places at NETNEP 2008.  We received an excellent response and the application for student places have been peer reviewed, allocated, and the successful students informed in November 2007.

Successful students

Six free student places were awarded to individuals from:  Rwanda, Canada, Kenya, Ireland and the United Kingdom. Elsevier have also generously funded 2 nights accommodation and a travel bursary for each student.

The successful students are:

  • Rob Fraser, CNSA Ryerson University, Canada
  • Mark Nkunzurwanda, Rigali Health Institute, Rwanda
  • Robert Simiyu, KMTC Nairobi, Kenya
  • Simon Tierney-Wigg, Salford University, UK

Student programme

A student-oriented programme is being organised by nursing students from three Dublin universities, coordinated by Meabh Prendergast from Trinity College Dublin, with assistance from members of the steering committee; Constance Timmins (UCD), Priscilla Bennett (UCD), and Rachel Minihan (TCD) 

The student committee will be easily identifiable by Tshirts with ‘Student Programme’. A student focused notice board will be provided with useful information for all students, and dedicated student information packs will be available to make your stay as easy as possible.  Most of the events on the student programme of activities will be open to all and we encourage you to join us,  please see below for full details of the programme:

Monday 9th June

11.30 Meet at Crowne Plaza Hotel
‘Meet and Greet Brunch’ for the 6 students awarded the bursary plus the local university buddies,

19.00 Meet for Bus Tour of Dublin
A Bus Tour of Dublin has been organised for the evening - Open to all students

Tuesday 10th June

08.30 Student workshop: Facilitated by Sian Maslin-Prothero - Open to all students
Writing for publication
Question & answer session
Other attendees: Wendy Hall (book review editor for ‘Nurse Education Today’); Judy Parker (Nursing Inquiry)

12.45 Lunch with keynote speakers: Wendy Hall, Judy Parker & Cecily Begley and others.

19.00 Cultural night in Dublin: Dinner at the Irish Film Institute, followed by drinks - Open to all
Those students attending the conference dinner can meet the group later.

Wednesday 11th June

a.m. Student Poster Judging – time to be confirmed

p.m. Student evaluation of conference

19.00 Walking Tour of Dublin followed by a night out in Temple Bar with Irish music and nightclub afterwards - Open to all
